                  <text>Belford Shoumate was born in Aberdeen, Ohio. He studied at the University of Pennsylvania and worked with architect Joseph Urban in New York City. Shoumate worked in Miami for one year with Carlos B. Schoeppl before coming to Palm Beach. Since the late 1930s, Belford Shoumate has left his architectural imprint, in either design or restoration, on more than 500 buildings of many styles in South Florida, from Bermuda and Colonial to Art Deco. Shoumate became very interested and active in the preservation of Palm Beach’s architectural heritage and presided over and contributed to the organizational efforts of preservation committees, including that of the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach.</text>

                <text>In 1946, Cielito Lindo, one of the early grand estates was sold for development and separated into lots. This residence was built for Arthur Octavius Edwards, an English builder and property developer. In accordance with the Bermuda style, the house features arched openings and a welcoming arms staircase. It was later owned by Mrs. Jeanne Craig and named “Four Seasons”. Small figures, sculpted to represent the seasons, top the entryway at the south end. Shoumate built another house with the same plans for Edwards across the street, it was later called “Coral Sands” and owned by Homer Smith. Four Seasons was designated as a landmark in 2012.</text>

                  <text>Belford Shoumate was born in Aberdeen, Ohio. He studied at the University of Pennsylvania and worked with architect Joseph Urban in New York City. Shoumate worked in Miami for one year with Carlos B. Schoeppl before coming to Palm Beach. Since the late 1930s, Belford Shoumate has left his architectural imprint, in either design or restoration, on more than 500 buildings of many styles in South Florida, from Bermuda and Colonial to Art Deco.
