Title

White Gables (Palm Beach, FL)

Description

The Great Depression prompted Volk to develop new approaches to his designs that were economical as well as aesthetically pleasing. During this era, Volk perfected his interpretation of Bermuda Style architecture. He designed White Gables for himself and lived there for ten years. The name comes from the two prominent facing gables on either side of the entrance. It was his first house designed in the Bermuda Style, which is characterized by the triangular capped chimney, dark green shutters, and white tile roof. White Gables was designated as a landmark in 1990
